e-mentor TV

e-mentor TV is an application for managing and projecting videos.

It has the following capabilities:

Multimedia Player

Is a flash player for reproducing multimedia content. It has reproduction capability for FLV, H.264 (high definition), MP3 files and media streams. It also has the capacity to deliver via e mail, connect to youtube, provide embed link for text integration, static picture display before the video is uploaded.
The player supports the use of subtitles and audio description.

Content classification

Content is grouped into categories in a tree structure form. By selecting a category or/and a subcategory a list of videos will appear linked to these categories.

Projected video

Is the video that the web authors want it to stand out from the rest, (e.g. Video of the day or of the week, etc.). It’s displayed in a different frame with a more detailed report than the rest of the videos, which includes the title, the record date, its duration and its description.

Suggested video

A video selected by the web authors from all the multimedia material and is more intensely promoted. The suggested videos operate in the entire content or per category.

Video classification

The video classification may be done based on the publishing date or based on popularity. How popular a video is can be measured by the hits it has received. Classification is based on the total of videos or on the category/subcategory levels.

Pseudo-streaming

The capacity to hop from one point of a video to another without having to download all the part in between. This serves mostly large files for the fastest display of the video.

Advertisements

The banner/advertising messages management is supported inside the videos. The campaigns may appear before or after the video projection and may take up the whole of the player surface or during the videos projection as a message at the bottom of the player. An advertisement may appear in a number of videos.

Navigation-Search

The display and navigation through all multimedia material independently of category. Search for the desirable video by key words the web author will correlate to each video.

Platform usage statistics

For every video the number of its display (hits) are counted within e-Mentor Web TV. This measure is used for the classification of videos based on popularity.

Regarding the system’s manager, the capabilities of the e-Mentor WEB-TV are the following:

- Creation, update and deletion of categories and subcategories of multimedia material.
 
- Creation, modification and deletion of videos with the following videos:

Fields that are completed by the user:

1. Video files (the following forms are supported: mp3, avi, mov, flv, f4v, mpg, mpeg). For all files
2. Title
3. Description
4. Category-Correlation with categories/subcategories (capacity of multiple choices)
5. Key words – for video search by the end user
6. Record date
7. File size (automatic)
8. Field, “video of the week” – In case that the video of the week is designated by the web author.
9. Field, “suggested video” – It will be selected so it will be displayed in the grouping of suggested videos.

Fields that are automatically completed by the system:

1. Thumbnail of a video shot.
2. Video duration
